Week 10, Chatting on the Internet.
06.01.06 (11:41 pm) [edit]Msn Messenger and Yahoo messenger are the two chatting programs that I used. They are very simple with lots of fun emoticons and images, people are very friendly, but as we all know there are rude people who make you not want to go chat on the website again.
Week 9, Power point.
06.01.06 (11:38 pm) [edit]Power point was very simple for me as I study the communication and in most of my courses power point is being used for my presentations. It is amazing how you can adjust and create the slide, colours, add sound effects and create the slide transitions.
Week 8, Using Microsoft Word
06.01.06 (11:32 pm) [edit]Microsoft word is the most used programs on the computer. I found it very easy and simple as I work as an administrative assistant and am using microsoft word everyday. It is usefull for everydays tasks in the administrative industry.

News: The picture I chose for news is the television, as most individuals watch more television than read the newspapers. Television shows you the seen where any act is happening, it is more effective and brings a better impact on things happening around the worlds than newspapers.

High Technology: I took a picture of my laptop which I think represents high technology as it contains all requirements from a computer as windows XP, wireless, etc... It is amazing how these days people can carry a laptop anywhere with them and sit anywhere and navigate through the web, using the internet. I found photoshop really simple and easy to use.

Unfortunatly, I had trouble downloading the images into my blog because of its saved format. (If required I am more than happy to provide you the excercise done for this task).
06.01.06 (8:02 pm) [edit]
Can you find some current news stories about search engines? (For example, Google has been in the technology news a bit lately. Google flies too close to Sun Microsystems, Judge limits US data hunts, Google looses one argument, but wins a second argument. A US judge restricts government’s access to ‘sensitive’ search data

What are some of your favourite search engines? Why do you like one more than others? Google is good for quick simple information, but I like Proquest the best as the information received are better and more useful.

Who, or what, makes one page (that you might get in your search results) more useful than another one, so that it is put at the top of your search result? From most recent to least recent, on the settings the appropriate search results can be appropriated.

How do search engines rank stuff they find on the internet? By the first word entered in the search engine, but it can vary as you can change the settings and include from recent to oldest.

Week 4, Search Engines: Searching on the internet,
06.01.06 (7:50 pm) [edit]What is a search engine? A search engine is a program designed to help find information stored in a computer system such as the world wide web or a personal computer. The search engines allows one to ask for content meeting specific criteria (typically those containing a given word or phrase) and retrieves a list of reference that, that match those criteria
Spam Emails,
06.01.06 (7:28 pm) [edit]Basically there are no real rules for spam emails, the guideline is that they should be restricted from the system and can be restricted from the system. You would probably get spam emails by navigating some website or even downloading music, movies, images or anything like that. What you should do personally is delete them straight away, don’t read it and don’t respond to it. Spam emails are fishing for personal emails that we all have. They are not sure that it is the write one but if you respond to it, then they are sure and they will keep sending spam emails. There are the security tools that you can research and restrict the spam emails or even block them. The problem with spam emails is that it slows down the system. Spam emails are simply unsolicited and unwanted they are know as junk.
Week 3, Email, Mailing lists and library Research
06.01.06 (7:21 pm) [edit]Nathan Lawrentschuk, Damien M Bolton (2004) Medical Journal of Australia Vol. 181, Iss. 3, pg. 145 Littlefield, Lyn‘Psychosocial aspects of mobile phone use among adolescent’ (2004) The Australian Psychosocial Society The two books below found on the Griffith University library resources helped me a lot with decided what to talk about in my essay. I finally decided to argue about mobile phones, the good and bad things about it. The two book above had a broad subject about new communication technologies in every forms helped me constitute the body of my essay, of course with the help of journals and other articles researched.
Week 2, Weblogs and discussion forums.
06.01.06 (7:20 pm) [edit]I found that weblogs are great, people can update their weblogs whenever they want. It is great to keep in touch with people all around the world, friends or even family.
05.05.06 (7:33 pm) [edit]
Communication & Digital technologies 1501ART Dijana Kantarevic s2176776 In today’s society nearly every single individual owns a mobile phone or even more than just one, starting from children from the age of 13 to elderly people. It is the most useful technology in today’s society and people are crazy about ring tones, emails, video cameras, messages and even video conferencing. But mobile phones are not the safest technology today; it can cause vehicle accidents, intervenes with medical equipments, social problems and can cause health problems. Estimates suggest that there are around 1.6 billion mobile phone users throughout the world, and number are increasing. Since the use of mobile phones technology is so widespread, medical researchers are concerned that any associated health risks, even small ones could cause significant public health problems (1). Mobile phones communicate with bas stations using radiofrequency radiation at a significant level has a thermal effect, which means it raises body temperature (1). There are concerns that the low levels of radiofrequency radiation emitted by mobile phones could cause health problems such as headaches or worse brain tumours (1). Stated by the health and medical information and the Victorian Government; energy which travels through space at the speed of light (1). It is also referred to as electromagnetic radiation. The electromagnetic radiation shows that mobile phones should be kept at a distance from medical equipments (Lawrentschuk Nathan, 2004). The use of mobile phones, especially in Finland where the mobile phone ownership rate is the highest in the world 70% in August 2000 (Heikki Summala, 2002). From 1998 to 1999 drivers who chose to use mobile phones while driving were 56% to 68% of the population, while the most dangerous drivers who cause accidents are 44% to 55%. On the other hand the proportion of drivers who use their phone in some kind of safe way remained on approximately 55% (Heikki Summala, 2002). In today’s society, people would believe that talking on a mobile phone while driving de-concentrates the way that individuals would drive without talking on their mobile phones. A lot of persons would agree that the Australian government made a right choice by adding fines on people who speak on the phone while driving. This situation made individuals think more about the way they are driving especially people with a low budget. On adolescents, mobiles phones companies are making more and more money. Mr Amosu, 28 and yet a multimillionaire who owned the Global ring tone industry. In the year 2000 Mr Amosu became one of the first to get into ring tones when he founded R&B ring tones with a turnover of nearly $A3 million in its first year (Emling Shelley, the Sydney Morning Herald). Those profits that he made were not only from adolescents but people of all ages all over the world as over a billion of dollars is made per year. The most frequent explanation given by adolescents that don’t have a mobile is because their parents do not let them have one. Almost 47% of teenagers who don’t have a mobile phone reported feeling left out of social interactions and 33% sometimes felt pressure from their friends to get a mobile phone (Littlefield Lyn, 2004). People would argue that there are two sides to the use of mobile phones, positive and negative. The positive way in a primary concern is that they can call emergency straight away and keep contact with their parents wherever they are, where as the negative way can lead to families’ financial problems and lack of concentration in school, as more and more teenagers are using their mobile phone in class (Littlefield Lyn, 2004). Basically, in today’s society each day new great technologies are being invented such as mobile phones, which have positive and negative ways as every other technologies. Health problems are being more and more discussed as cancer could develop due to radiation. It has been stated that mobile phones are the most common use of technology in today’s society. Introduction
03.13.06 (5:28 pm) [edit]Hi, my name is Dijana Kantarevic.
I was born in Bosnia but lived in Switzerland, and now I'm in Australia !!!a bit confusing!!!
I speak 3 languages fluently, if anyone cares! My goal is to secure a management position in a high growth company with considerable advancement opportunities. Ideally, in a business development capacity with an emphasis on strategic planning.
